Founded in 1922, the Junior League of Dallas, Inc. is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving our community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.

Welcome Prospective 2013 - 2014 Provisionals

We’ve now closed applications for membership in the Provisional Class of 2013-2014. To receive information about joining the Provisional Class of 2014-2015, please complete a Membership Interest Form.

We’ll email you in late summer/early fall when our informational meetings are scheduled.

For those that are incoming New Members in the 2013-2014 Class:

You will receive a letter in the mail in early April with information about the coming year. We have had an overwhelming response from ladies interested in joining the JLD. Please be patient as we complete the paperwork for all the candidates. Below are the links to RSVP for the Provisional May meeting. As a Provisional you are required to attend one of the two meetings at JLD Headquarters.

Information on How to Join the Junior League

1. Find three JLD sponsors and have your Lead Sponsor submit an Intent to Sponsor Form  on your behalf by January 13, 2014. They will find this form on their Member Home Page. Once this form has been completed by all three JLD sponsors you will receive email confirmation.
2. You will be required to attend one (1) of the Provisional May Meetings in 2014. These meetings will be held at JLD Headquarters and will review all the Provisional Course requirements for the year.

You will also pay the Provisional Dues at the May Meeting:

2012 – 2013 Provisional Fees:

• $256 Annual Membership;
• $100 One-Time Provisional Fee; and
• $15 Bus Tour Fee
• $10 Small Group Fee

3. Begin Provisional coursework in August 2014 
4. Complete Provisional Requirements and become an Active member in June 2015

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Do my sponsors need to be members of the Junior League of Dallas or can they be members of any Junior League?
Sponsors for the Junior League of Dallas will need to be Active or Sustainer members of the Junior League of Dallas.

When you say that one of my three sponsors needs to be “Active,” what does that mean?
An “Active” member is one who is currently in good standing and volunteering their time and talents within the Junior League of Dallas. A “Sustaining” member is one who has given ten (10) years of active service in good standing or has reached 40 years of age. Please note, a member who is currently in their Provisional year or who is on Probation is not eligible to sponsor members.

 I am new to Dallas and I don’t know anyone that is a member of the Junior League of Dallas?
If you need help finding sponsors, you may submit an online request by December 7 at 9 p.m. We cannot guarantee sponsors but we will try our best. You will receive email confirmation once we have matched you with sponsors. We begin matching in mid-December.

 My sister is an active member of the Junior League of Dallas, and is willing to be my sponsor but I don’t know anyone else that is a member, what do I do?
If you currently know a member of the JLD you can ask for their assistance in finding additional sponsors. They can ask their friends, committee members, even the ladies that sponsored them! If she still has trouble finding additional sponsors we suggest that she completes the Intent to Sponsor Form and on the form she can request additional sponsors via Sponsor Pool on this form. Active members will find this form on their Member Home Page. Once this form has been completed by a member of the JLD you will receive email confirmation.

If I submit my name into the Sponsor Pool does that guarantee me three sponsors?
While we try to match everyone with a sponsor we can't guarantee that we will be able to do so, so your best bet is to reach out!

 What is the age criteria for membership into the Junior League of Dallas?
In order to join the Provisional Class you must be at least 22 years of age and not older than 39 years of age.

I was an active member of another League and have recently moved to Dallas, do I need to restart my Provisional Year in order to become a member of the Junior League of Dallas?
In most cases if you have completed your Provisional year at another Junior League you can transfer your membership. We suggest you visit the transfer portion of our website or email the Transfer Placer at placement@jld.net

In order to transfer your membership you must contact your current League and ask them to transfer your membership to the Junior League of Dallas via the AJLI (Association of Junior Leagues International) e-Transfer system. 

Please provide them with the following information: 
• Name, local Dallas address and phone number 
• Email address 
• AJLI number 
• Your current status (i.e. Active, Provisional, Sustainer)
