Junior League of Dallas Kids in the Kitchen
As part of its 2011-2012 initiatives, JLD continues its exciting program, Kids in the Kitchen. Kids in the Kitchen is a nationally recognized health education program that empowers youth to learn the preparation of healthy meals and educates them and their parents regarding nutrition and healthy choices. In partnership with area YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas branches and after-school providers, the JLD will work to impact the lives of area children for healthier lifestyles through a hands-on, interactive 8-week program to take place in the Fall of 2011.
The JLD 2011-12 Kids in the Kitchen program, through sponsorship from UnitedHealthcare and The Weaver Foundation, features:
- A 8-week after-school program from September through November 2011 offered at the three YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas branches as well as three after-school providers.
- Junior League of Dallas volunteers will work along side after-school program providers to engage youth grades kindergarten through 5th grade during 3-hour sessions that include age-appropriate recipe preparation, fun exercise activities and take-home items including nutrition and fitness tips for the whole family.
