The Junior League of Dallas is committed to:
- Fostering a culture of inclusion by embracing a diverse membership and encouraging our membership to integrate diverse perspectives.
- Promoting understanding of, and sensitivity to diverse perspectives through education and training.
- Striving to accurately represent the community and provide our members with the skills to serve the diverse population of Dallas.
Our definition of diversity includes, but is not limited to, the 8 main social identifiers:
- Gender
- Race
- Religion
- Age
- Ability
- Socioeconomic class
- Sexual orientation
- Ethnicity
In collaboration with other League committees, the 2010-11 Diversity Committee will primarily focus on:
- Targeting and developing relationships with diverse media outlets to attract a more diverse membership base.
- Developing partnerships with a variety of community organizations that offer access to potential members who would bring greater diversity to the JLD.
- Enhancing the commitment to diversity and inclusion within the League through education and training.
- Creating specific diversity training for Leadership Council, Committee Chairs, Project Chairs and Issue Coordinators to foster learning and cross-group sharing on the topic of diversity and inclusion.
If you know of a particular organization or individual the JLD should reach out to, please contact Katy Spicer, Diversity Chair at katyspcr@yahoo.com.
