SLANT 45

Service Learning Adventures in North Texas – better known as SLANT 45 – is one of three major education initiatives that the North Texas Super Bowl XLV Host Committee will launch as part of its legacy programs. Designed to inspire creativity and build problem-solving skills, this unique service-learning project will positively impact thousands of North Texas school children and their families. It will serve as a model that can be emulated by the NFL in cities and regions hosting future Super Bowls.

SLANT 45 will be one of the largest community-wide service-learning projects for children in U.S. history and the largest in NFL history. Starting in early 2010, an estimated 20,000 elementary age students (grades 3–5) will log a combined 45,000 hours in more than 100 communities that will forever change the face of the region.

North Texas-based Big Thought, one of the leading nonprofit organizations in the nation focused on improving public education through creative learning, will design the concept, curriculum and implementation plan. The JLD will be collaborating with other Leagues in North Texas for this initiative and working with children within our own communities. Those Leagues include Fort Worth, Arlington, Richardson and Plano.
