Business and civic leader John Scovell received the 81st annual Linz Award, an honor long considered to be the highest accolade bestowed locally to an individual or married couple for community or humanitarian service.  Best-known for his distinguished career in real estate as President and CEO of Woodbine Development Corp., John was honored for his work as chairman of the Dallas Citizens Council during last year's contentious referendum to decide the fate of the Dallas Convention Center hotel project. The hotel is under construction.  John has been a leader in such groups as the Cotton Bowl Committee, Downtown Dallas (the former Central Dallas Association), and the Dallas County Community College District Foundation board. He also served as a trustee of Children's Medical Center Dallas, Southwestern Medical Foundation and the Dallas Foundation. Please join us in celebrating one of Dallas' most influential citizens at the September General Membership daytime meeting on Wednesday, September 15, 2010*  at 11:30 a.m.!
